Parent
Communication
Parent communication is an important part of your child’s
success at GMS. All of our teachers welcome the opportunity
to discuss your child’s education and development.
In addition to the Parent Communication Folders we use
to send home announcements, letters and flyers, we also
offer our website to keep you informed of GMS news.
Our classrooms are unique in that our teachers spend
the entire school day with students. Therefore conversations
and conferences must occur on scheduled conference days
or after school hours.
Parent/Teacher
Conferences
Conferences for student evaluation are held two times
during the school year in fall and spring, as listed
on the school calendar. These days are set aside from
the school calendar each year for parents to avail of
the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress.
As valuable as conferences are to parents and teachers,
it is your child who benefits the most.
During the two weeks prior to the conference dates,
parents are asked to sign up for a scheduled conference.
It is the responsibility of parents to schedule a time
with their child’s teacher. Parents who can not
meet in person should schedule a telephone conference
for the conference day. Parent input forms will be sent
home for parents to complete and should be submitted
prior to the conference.
Special Conferences
Parents or teachers as needed may request special conferences.
To contact your child’s teacher, you may:
* Call school and leave a brief message
* Send a written note
* Email the school at: office@greenvillemontessori.com
Your child’s teacher will reply as soon as feasible
(generally within the next 48 hours). Should your call
require immediate attention, all efforts will be made
to accommodate you. Please remember that class or carpool
time is not an appropriate time for ‘mini conferences’.
Messages
It is important that your child comes to school aware
of plans for the day ahead. In the event that significant
plans change, you may contact the school and leave a
message for your child’s teacher or a message
to be relayed to your child.
GMS Commitment Promise
The ‘GMS Commitment Promise’ involves each
family contributing 10 hours of work service to the
benefit of our school community. Community building
opportunities are wide and varied so that everyone can
participate.
When parents volunteer, they not only provide valuable
support and assistance, they also act as a link between
the school and home environments. Time and time again,
studies have shown that the greater the extent of parental
involvement, the higher the academic gains, pride and
satisfaction their child experiences. Parents who volunteer
at our school help to create a true feeling of family
at GMS.
Thank you for choosing Greenville Montessori School.
We pledge to treat your child & family with courtesy,
respect & kindness.
